THE BIG PICTURE
- Jesus is to be our only master.
You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of people. (1 Corinthians 7:23)
“No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” (Luke 16:13)
- Debt is slavery.
The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender. (Proverbs 22:7)
One man pretends to be rich but has nothing; another pretends to be poor but has great wealth. (Proverbs 13:7)
Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant than pretend to be somebody and have no food. (Proverbs 12:9)
A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls. (Proverbs 25:28)
- Bad: being held back from what you want to do and who you want to be.
- WORSE: being held back from what God wants you to do and who God wants you to be.
Freedom is not a license to do whatever we want.
Freedom is a posture of obedience.
- Give whatever He asks.
- Go wherever He calls.
- Gratefully enjoy His blessings.
